Get Your Videos Noticed on YouTube

I recently started uploading all of my video projects to YouTube so I can easily share my school and personal assignments with my family and friends. In addition, I wanted my work to have some exposure outside of the classroom and home-viewing setting. Because of this, I have been trying to find the best methods to make sure that my video will be seen by a variety of audiences.
chelsea profileHere are some simple tips to get your videos noticed on YouTube: 1. Make sure you have a title that describes the content clearly by using the best keywords in the title. 2. The description is very important, write as much information about the video as possible. 3. Make sure to use plenty of tags so when audiences search for videos, yours will have a higher chance of showing up in the results. For example if you have a video on toilet repair, you can tag these things:how to, home, repair, lesson, teach, learn, toilet, plumbing, water, bathroom, renovation, plumber, leaks, pipes, etc. 4. The thumbnail picture that links to your video is very important. When you are editing your video on YouTube, you can choose between 3 freeze frame pictures that YouTube automatically creates for you. If they see that a video is several minutes long, they will most likely choose a shorter version of the same video. Be concise, clear, and straight to the point. 6. Originality and humor is key. People want to be entertained and see something they have never seen before. Be goofy and embarrass yourself a little; self conscious people won’t get noticed on YouTube. As for MindBites authors who have taught lessons on the site, you can bring in more traffic to your lesson by uploading a short concise preview of your lesson to YouTube. If you have a 10-minute lesson on MindBites, you can edit a 1 to 3 minute condensed video that encompasses the best parts of your lesson, or if you want, you can just edit the first portion of your lesson and upload that.

Make sure to leave a link to the full lesson at the end of your YouTube promotion and also leave a link straight to your full lesson in the description. This is a quick and easy way to bring a broader audience to your lesson. Whether you are a MindBites author or a home video conoisseur, you can attract more viewers to your videos just by taking a little extra time in the initial uploading process.
