Well, when we asked everyone to make their best Crafting video, we didn’t fully expect the response we received. From Making Resin Jewelry to DIY Shrinky Dinks, the Crafting community came out in force! In the end, though, Margot Potter’s Crafty Rock Star Grungeboard Pin stood a notch above to take the Grand Prize and a cool $1000.
PhotoTony amazed all with his Light Painting lesson and was the $500 People’s Choice winner.

We’re down to about a week and a half left in the Spread the Craft contest, and the grand prize of $1,000 and the People’s choice prize of $500 are still up for grabs! All of the contest videos are free for the viewing, so take your time to learn and increase your crafting repertoire. While you’re watching, vote for your favorite lesson. All registered Mindbites users can vote once a day, so get your friends to join in on the fun! Current People’s Choice Leaders are: 1. How To Craft Your Own Exercise Machine 2. Make Your Own Baby Sign Language Flashcards 3. DIY Shrinky Dinks. Remember, the People’s Choice voting is open until August 1, 2008. DIY Shrinky Dinks’ author Claire Chauvin from Poopscape.com, and Linda Permann from Craftstylish.com are not wasting time on spreading the word about the contest. Even if you don’t think there is enough time to mobilize your peeps for the People’s choice prize, keep your eye on the $1,000 grand prize. Imagine if a crafter swoops in at the last minute, steals the spotlight, awes the crafting community and wins the $1,000 grand prize with a smashing crafting lesson? That could be you! Enter the contest and make sure you submit your video by July 21, 2008 (midnight CT).

Hello crafters! We have some exciting contest news…We are extending the deadline for the Spread the Craft Contest Due to several requests/complaints about the short amount of time left to shoot a video (seems like summer vacations have taken up lots of crafting time!), we have extended the deadline to July 21st! That is four additional weeks to register, upload, and Spread the Craft! The new date to announce the winner will be August 5th.
Second major announcement of the day: People’s Choice Voting Begins TODAY! That’s right! We’ve moved up the date for voting because, well, it just made sense. If you are entering the contest, you are excited and want to tell everyone to ‘vote for me!’ And they should be able to go view your video and vote. So, now they can. Anyone registered as a user on the MindBites website can login and vote for one video, once a day, everyday, until August 1st. So….tell your friends, family, the entirety of the crafting community to login and vote for you!
