The Gift of Relaxation for Your Valentine

One final suggestion for you this Valentine’s day… a trip to the spa! Ok, so an actual trip to the spa might not be in the budget this year, but if a massage is really what your sweet heart wants, then give it to them. MindBites has some great suggestions for giving your valentine the spa experience without breaking the bank (or even leaving the house).
The Basics:
You need to create a relaxing environment. This means dimming the lights (by using only a lamp, shading the lamp, or turning out the lights completely and lighting candles) and creating soothing sounds and smells. Some basic supplies are:
-turn off the phone, the TV, the computer, and send the kids to Grandma’s or with friends
-candles: Scented would be great
-light background music or relaxing sounds. Think Bach or babbling brook, though, and not Beastie Boys or bus noise.
-towels, a robe, and a place to lay down (the bed is probably the best option)
-lotion or massage oil, bath salts, or other relaxation-inducing bath goodies
Ideas:
-Shoulder and neck massage: this video offers the best tips from a certified massage therapist. She provides you with ideas for creating the right setting, and explains proper technique.
-Relaxing bath: Run a warm bath with scented bath salts for your valentine, surrounding the bath with candles. You can make the bath salts yourself, and send your Valentine home with the extras.
-Hand and foot massage: You can even throw in a manicure and pedicure (with or without polish).
-Offer all three options for a super-relaxing day of pampering!
